Bobby Lashley is back to his dominant ways. “The All-Mighty” started the year in a big way, knocking out then WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in WWE Royal Rumble. Lashley will drop this title after only three weeks in WWE Filter Room, although not getting a chance to properly defend it. Then he set his sights on Omos, ending the Nigerian giant’s undefeated streak in WWE WrestleMania 38 last April. It wouldn’t take Lashley long to decorate his waist again, as he took home the WWE United States title from Theory at WWE Money in the Bank.
It was Lashley’s successful summer without a mouthpiece, as the former MVP turned on him on the April 4th edition of Monday Night Raw. While the current US Champion was fine without someone in his corner, one of his former allies is stirring up excitement for the reunion.
Lio Rush took to Instagram to share ten photos of him and Shelley, ominously leaving the post without comment.
This left many in the comments speculating that Rush could hint at a WWE comeback and a re-loyalty with Lashley.
Rush previously managed Lashley from September 2018 through April 2019, referring to himself as the huge hype man. The “Man of the Hour” would help Lashley win the WWE Intercontinental title, which he held on two separate occasions.
In addition to his management work, Rush has had his share of individual success during his time in WWE. Rush returned to NXT in September 2019 and quickly claimed the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, holding that title through WWE Survivor Series He successfully defended it against the main roster competition.
Rush will leave WWE in April 2020, and will work on a number of independent promotions. The high player will play his first retirement match in July 2020 at GCW Homecoming In a losing bid for Joey Janela. Although billed as the “final match,” Rush signed with Major League Wrestling later that year. At the same time, Rush began competing for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Months later, Rush made his All Elite Wrestling debut in AEW double or nothing 2021. In that match, Rush suffered an injury that caused him to announce his retirement for the second time. Later that year, Rush came out of retirement and signed with both NJPW and AEW. His tenure at AEW ended up being short-lived, as “LBO Lio” left the company last February.
Although Rush has never been shy about dropping an empty tease here and there, there is reason to believe that a WWE comeback may be in the pipeline. Since Paul “Triple H” Levesque took over the creative company, several stars have returned to the fold. However, Rush may not be The Game’s favorite.
Rush said in November 2020: “For some reason I had this weird friction with Hunter (Triple H). I don’t know what it is. I don’t know if he thought I was too reckless. I know if he thought I was being too blunt.” I don’t know what it was, but I and Hunter never looked like we saw eye to eye.”
